And now we are grinding onward down the ringing grooves of change toward August and the Hugo Awards at Worldcon in Chicago. By the time we get there, we will have changed a lot. For in August we produce the September issue, which will be the first of the new age for NYRSF. For now we transcend all the pain we have suffered in the last months, and continue in all formats. We will have electronic issues for subscribers and for sale individually available via <weightlessbooks.com> [see the sidebar] and also in pdf format, for ease in printout. And in addition, we plan to offer two-issue print-on-demand booklets to subscribers who prefer hard copy on a subscription basis, six books a year. We are firming up the details now. But we will never print a single copy issue again, though you can do it yourself from the pdf if you wish.
Still we will be able to sell hard-copy back issues for a while, though our supply is pleasantly decreased to a manageable wall of boxes, which will be recycled as we finish creating electronic copies of each issue. That is now beginning to happen. So if you are one of the happy readers lacking physical back issues to carry with you and read, do take advantage of our back issue sale now, not later. We still offer 40 for $20, 80 for $40, larger numbers by arrangement if you wish, postpaid in the US, our choice, no duplicates, for the next while. And thank you to those who have already ordered.
Much stuff has happened since the last editorial, including the Book Expo in NYC, a bunch of visitors to our Westport, New York store, and a work weekend at which this issue was produced from a lot of last-minute submissions. And thanks to those who delivered just in time. Check out the pictures.
Our next big convention is Readercon in mid-July, where we will attend in force, so see us in the dealer room there. And after that, who knows? Somehow, we will find time to produce the August issue and that will be the end of an era.
